Dallas Real Estate Photography : Full Package Difference
Gretchen Mikulich: Hello this is Gretchen Mikulich.
Thomas Crosson: This is Thomas Crosson with Full Package Media. We are a premier Dallas real estate Photography Company that serves the Dallas and greater DFW area in Texas and beyond if needed.
Gretchen: Today, we’re going to talk to you about what makes our photography different than competitors.
Thomas: To find out more about this you can visit us online at fullpackagemedia.com or give us a call anytime at 972-885-8823.
Gretchen: All right, when looking for Dallas real estate photography in the DFW area, it is best to find a photographer with a style of photos that you absolutely love. They need to match your branding, your marketing and they really just need to tell the story of the home that you’re trying to portray.
Thomas: Yes, that’s totally super important, if it’s not something that you like as a Realtor not only does it help sell a home but it’s something that needs to, like you said, increase your brand and your image.
By using the same photographer over and over again, assuming that it’s good photographer, helps potential clients and homeowners that might be selling their home see your brand and your image and they say, “Man, they always do great photos,” versus if you just have one photo shoot here and there that’s good then that doesn’t really do it for you.
When looking for a Dallas real estate photography company, make sure that they also can provide consistent results.
Gretchen: Right, consistency in your photography company is extremely important. Also, another topic that’s really important is quality, just in general right? They might be consistent, but if they’re consistently bad that means they’re consistent but the quality is low. [chuckles]
Thomas: Yes and luckily for you, we do– Full Package Media does both quality and consistency on a super-high level and really out of all the Dallas real estate photography companies, I really think we’re number one in both quality and consistency.
Gretchen: Yes, that’s right. Full Package Media has a system and process that essentially eliminates all QA issues, right? We have eyes on every photo before they are sent to the realtor.
Thomas: Yes, that’s absolutely right. How are some of the ways that we control our quality and our consistency?
Gretchen: Each shoot is reviewed by the owner Thomas Crosson.
Thomas: That’s me.

Gretchen: [laughs] He has the final say on when photos go out when a photo needs to be retouched. TThere’s really no comparison to that right? The owner who started the company looks at every single photo before it goes out.
Thomas: That’s right. I make sure that it really is up to quality standards. We get our photos back and edited and done from our editing team before they go back to the client. If we have to make changes and we have the time to do that and we can still deliver on our promise turnaround time which is next day for all of our photography.
Gretchen: That’s one way we check the photos but we even go steps further than that. From the very beginning, we require all of our photographers to use the same equipment and that really leads to high quality and consistently high-quality photos.
Thomas: Yes, I don’t know of any other Dallas real estate photography company that does it the way we do and that provides equipment to the photographers. Not only does that provide consistent results but it takes people that we’re able to hire that maybe don’t have the means to buy the equipment or something like that.
They can work for us and use the equipment and gain the skills and knowledge and can really express their passion for photography and learn something along the way all while using really the top, top industry-leading equipment. I know what some of the other companies in Dallas use.
I know what some of the other companies in Dallas use. Out of all Dallas real estate photography companies, I know for certain there’s not anyone that uses any better equipment than we do and definitely, doesn’t use the our level of equipment on a consistent basis.
Gretchen: That’s great, quality is so important these days. What is it that sets full package media’s photography apart? What they do is that special? Is it the way they shoot photos? is there a certain style?
Thomas: I can’t tell you. [chuckles] Now, Full Package Media, the way that we are different as we shoot– Well, a lot of companies so they either shoot single exposure photos or they shoot three exposures. Then those are blended together a lot of times to save money.
They’re using auto blending program and fullpackagemedia.com sets themselves apart by doing seven exposures which allows you to get great lighting in the room and you don’t have dark corners and dark edges. You also have your darker exposures that allow you to see outside of windows and really the detail in the lighter areas of the house and that’s totally different.
We manually blend all those photos together. It’s never done automatically, it’s done manually. That’s a top-notch way to get the results that we as a Dallas real estate photography company get on a consistent basis every time because we’re using the same equipment.
Along those lines, we have an editing team that is not our photographer. Photographer shoot photos, editing team edit the photos. They only have to be good

at that one skill. They don’t have to cross-train so that allows them to really be specialists in what they do.
Gretchen: Great and so to go a little bit more in depth in HDR. The HTR process is as Thomas said, we take seven photos. Each photo is taken at a different– What would you call it?
Thomas: Different exposure value and the brightest is super bright. It’s really, it’s almost– If you just looked at it you’d be like, “Man, that’s a horrible photo.” Our darkest photo pretty much you can only see outside the windows.
You can see the outside maybe the sky and then, of course, your middle exposures are what you would get out of a single like point-and-shoot camera. Like you’re auto mode and then we have all that data and shooting in raw files. You get all that data and you’re able to blend that together afterwards.
Gretchen: When you say blend, what he means by that is that each photo has a certain spot that looks best, right? There is different parts of the photo that look good. They then take the information that looks good in each of the seven photos to create one fully filled in photo.
Thomas: This is normally called HDR. I really try to avoid HDR which stands for high dynamic range. Try to avoid that term because it has a negative connotation especially in the realtor say industry. That HDR provides that cartoonish and rendering like look which is totally not what our images are like at all.
There are some Dallas real estate photography companies out there that do use photos that look like that and but that’s totally not what we do. Really, the way we like to refer to it as is AB or auto exposure bracketing and then manually blended or layered together because it’s really, HDR typically refers to it being combined in the camera and then you’re just left with one output image from the camera versus ours is actually seven images. When we take 36 photos for a house, we actually have 252 raw exposures.
Gretchen: Why are other companies doing this?
Thomas: Other companies don’t do this because it’s expensive and because there is not many cameras out there that are capable of doing this. Like I said auto exposure bracketing, you can’t do it manually. Some of the world’s leading photographers they do sometimes 80 or 100 exposures for one picture but they also charge 3 to $400 per photo.
That’s of course, not really realistic for most listings. It’s expensive, it’s a lot of post- processing work and expense and the cameras are expensive and it takes longer to do because you have to wait for that camera to take all seven of those exposures.

expense and the cameras are expensive and it takes longer to do because you have
to wait for that camera to take all seven of those exposures.
Gretchen: I keep hearing the word expensive does that mean that you have to pass this cost on to your customers?
Thomas: No, absolutely not and that is why we hire people, not hire but we work with people that are independent contractors and as the Dallas real estate photography company, we hire people that have good character and that are coachable and that are willing to learn photography. We don’t care if you’re a photographer or maybe you’re a videographer but you’ve never done photography and that’s something that you want to do.
We are happy to train you up and provide you with the equipment and do that. By doing that and by streamlining our process, we’re able to keep our costs down and pass those savings onto you and really our prices are the same or cheaper than our leading competitors.
Gretchen: That’s great, affordability is one of the number one things real estate agents are looking for.
Thomas: That’s really true and there’s anything like you’re not going to pay $20 for a subpar cheeseburger and you’re not going to pay any more for photos that even if they’re better than what you’d normally paying and out of every home sale there’s only so much commission that you can get.
You can’t eat into that too much with your photography cost so we really try to keep that– We do keep that down at equal level but providing such a better and higher quality result than our competitors.
Gretchen: Great, when you are looking for a Dallas real estate photography company, keep full package media at the top of your list because like we said here today, our quality is unrivalled in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
